(Street photography was my first love and while I rarely indulge these days, it’s mostly because I find my surroundings bland compared to the years I spent in Asia. So here I revisit a particular moment in my street photography journey, when I started working with heavy constraints, ie. shooting handheld with Lomo Fantome 8 film. )
Shooting at such low sensitivity not only implies slow(ish) speeds (most of these must have been shot around 1/30s) but also requires near wide open apertures. As a consequence, you usually can’t really shoot an entire scene since most of it will be blurry. You have to focus on the one detail or plane you want sharp. This is a good example of it, with the characters on the store sign sharp and the street behind entirely blurred.
