Central Taxi

(Street photography was my first love and while I rarely indulge these days, it’s mostly because I find my surroundings bland compared to the years I spent in Asia. So here I revisit a particular moment in my street photography journey, when I started working with heavy constraints, ie. shooting handheld with Lomo Fantome 8 film. )

Lomo Fantome 8 not only has very low sensitivity, but as often will films of such low ISO, has a really short dynamic range. In the harsh light of Hong-Kong this resulted in scenes draped in darkness, which I found really compelling. And of course, there’s little more Hong Kong than a shot of a taxi…
