Incensed

(Street photography was my first love and while I rarely indulge these days, it’s mostly because I find my surroundings bland compared to the years I spent in Asia. So here I revisit a particular moment in my street photography journey, when I started working with heavy constraints, ie. shooting handheld with Lomo Fantome 8 film. )

In Hong Kong I used to live in a narrow steep street just above Tin Hau Temple. I would walk past the temple every day, so this to me is not just an incense burner, it’s, in a very real sense, my incense burner. I love how the street facades that are mere meters away are so blurred out.
