HK:PM
I stumbled upon HK:PM by Greg Girard visiting PMQ last week-end. These are photos from the film era taken mostly at night in Hong Kong in the 70s and 80s. The photos are quite stunning, especially considering the technical challenges of shooting colour film at night (in fact there were a few prints there that, had I been rich, I would have purchased...) As always with these kinds of books, the photos themselves can be hit and miss although there are more hits than misses here. Most importantly though, it conveys the seedy atmosphere of Hong Kong as a US soldier leave town, full of strip clubs and prostitutes. That side of Hong Kong I believe still exists but is much better hidden.
